| "That's bullshit", is not an argument my young friend. On the other hand aikido was designed to defense against several opponents (that real life in my proffesion) I know that in the ground Jiu Jitsu is very good, but while I'm "destroying" an opponent in the ground, I give the opportunity to his 2 friends to kick my head.
To ended if u r an artist thing in what budo is, in real life there are guns which every black belt of any martial art. DarKvid on 2008, 08, 13
i have heard so many times its not the art its the artist. thats bullshit. it is very possible for some styles to be better than others. its a matter of what you like to do based on the styles philosophy. it has been proven that grappling beats other systems becuase of the fact that its ground fighting and other styles dont fight from the ground. you don't need to be a rocket scientists to understand this. Firtsly, I am not Japanesse, secondly I'm afraid that in the real world there arenīt cameras to film "these exihibitions", secondly I havnīt need to show anything, I know aikido is usefull.
For ended, the martial art is not the important the important is the artist, however I prefer Aikido's philosophy instead the others. DarKvid on 2008, 08, 12
these mma guys must be laughing their heads off Johnf85 on 2008, 08, 12
the fact that its used by police doesnt mean anything. police use self defense stemming from their culture. obviously japanese police do japanese systems and chinese will use chinese systems and the good ol usa army does jiu jitsu. aikido is worthless its never ever ever ever been proven. show me a video where it has, like everything else has been. Actually, if the oponent is static is resistant opponent. And aikido in real life is complete usefull, in fact is used by the Spanish special units of police, the unique diference is, the atemis in real life aren't atemis, are hits. DarKvid on 2008, 07, 16
itll work on a static non resistant opponent, but not in real life. GJJalltheway on 2008, 06, 05
It's not about the arm, it's about the body. Aikido is about disturbing your opponent's centre of mass with your own, as long as you have a point of contact you can do that, just like they used to do in really old school judo before it became all about building huge muscles and using superior strength to throw people. ketsan on 2008, 06, 04
so. someone wont give you their arm in a real fight. it just wont work. GJJalltheway on 2008, 05, 30
If you've ever had it done to you, you would understand why. The angles in which your body is manipulated leave you with two choices 1) injury or more severe pain than is already being inflicted on you, and 2) submission. Your body usually goes with option 2 without your consent. qualix7 on 2008, 05, 29
