I think ANYONE should be here that takes the time to legally do so and become a U.S. Citizen. We have the most lenient admission laws of practially any nation on earth.
I just wanted to explain practically why many people against ILLEGALS are not racist. Part of why your pocketbooks are eating it compared to the 1980s is cos someone has to actually pay for the 'freebees' we as a country extend out of good will. Seems tho' that people do not want to THINK until the crisis is personal.

So Californians, the next time you open your paycheck and see the taxes taken out for the state? Just remember the ONE clinic in Oxnard. (I'm actually familiar with 4 such clinics in 3 counties; there are so many more). Do I wish sick people to not get better? HELL NO. Am I racist? HELL NO. (I won the minority multicultural award from my graduate school program a decade ago. Clarification: I spend part yr. abroad, part yr on U.S. soil = how I both lived in CA for 20 yrs and intl vol. wk.)

And money from my paycheck and yours if you are in California... pays for the service fees, the prescriptions, the clinic costs. 35 per hour in a 12 hour open day x 7 days is 2940 people a week, or 11,760 people a month. Or: 141,120 doctor visits each year to this ONE clinic. If you figure an ave. min. visit cost w/out meds $45? Then for this one clinic, legal citizens of California are paying $6,350,400.00 each year for this one clinic. There are a lot of them.

A taxpayer for almost 2 decades. And I have lived in neighborhoods that are primarily Mexican. I am fluent in Spanish and my best friend in life is from Colombia. I have as many Mexican friends as others. The ones who have worked hard to become legal American citizens and pay taxes suffer and resent that others break the law to get in, and do not pay taxes. I have spent my life doing international humanitarian volunteer work and because of this, I never accrued benefits or much of a nest egg.

Hey ESCOXTC, have you ever been to the island of Bermuda. Try going there! Once you get there you'll never want to leave. Problem is if you try to stay you have to marry someone who is a resident or they kick your sorry butt off the island. Outsourcing and a pathetic corporate system that pays our labor force peanuts and gives outrageous compensation to CEO's and others at the top of the corporate food chain are what are leaving Americans broke, not some day laborer making a few bucks an hour.
